Oasis Island Sounds

Several students from The West Indies formed Oasis Island Sounds in 1988. These students played with various bands in the Caribbean and wanted to continue playing music in the United States while pursuing college degrees.

As the members graduated, some returned to the Caribbean while others moved on to pursue careers in their various fields of study. Mr. Peter Humphrey, Oasis‘ band leader, decided to continue The Oasis Spirit by hiring local musicians in the Washington, D.C. area who were exposed to Caribbean music. His aim was always focused on satisfying his customers by “Quenching their Musical Thirst.”

Presently Oasis performs regularly in many establishments throughout the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. You can find Oasis performing in a few clubs to include The Caribbean Crossroads, Zanzibar On the Waterfront, Bukom Café, Safari and Fast Eddies. You may have also seen Oasis Island Sounds at several International Festivals in the area and at the Air Jamaica & United Airlines Promotion Festivals In the metropolitan area. Oasis has opened for world-renowned performers such as: Luciano, Sanchez, Morgan Heritage, Gregory Isaacs, Denis Brown, Fabulous Five, Burning Flames, Machel Montano, Barrington Levy, Freddie McGregor and most recently Joseph Hill and Culture.

Oasis believes in community outreach and enhancing the quality of life and environment to better the way for our future. Members of the band participate in after school activities to provide a choice of musical education to less fortunate children. The Band donates a portion of CD sales to charities in the Caribbean. This year Oasis Island Sounds is proud to announce they will contribute to charities in the United States and the immediate Washington D.C. metropolitan area.

  2. Wedding Cocktail Reception - Dolores B.

Oasis Island Sounds provided music for the cocktail after following our wedding ceremony. They were flexible and accommodating with the time changes. They really set the mood for our honeymoon to St. Lucia. They were awesome.

  3. Birthday Party - Paula R.

They were great. They came in in a timely fashion, set up and we’re ready to perform. They were very accommodating in changing from an outside venue to a smaller inside space. We had more than 100 people to attend the affair and the dance floor remained packed the entire night. We corresponded through emails and texts regularly before the event and developed a nice working relationship before the party. Well done.

  4. Corporate Cocktail Reception

Peter and the guys were amazing, they demonstrate professionalism and were courteous during the reception. Everyone was pleased with their Caribbean songs and singing abilities.

  5. Birthday Party

The band was awesome! Arrived on time, played just what we wanted, very pleasant guys, never too loud. One of our guests was so impressed that she plans to hire them for an upcoming event. I would again, too.

  6. Wedding Cocktail Reception

Island Oasis is a wonderful band! We hired them for our wedding reception cocktail hour and they rocked it! Our guests absolutely loved them and wanted them to stay longer. If you’re thinking about having fun entertainment for your guests, go with Island Oasis. You will not be sorry! Ask for Peter Humphrey! He was kind and professional.

  7. N.S. Rehearsal Dinner

I would certainly recommend them. Their music is lively and upbeat, and I particularly liked their music for the rehearsal dinner we hosted, since the music was quite different from what the guests would be hearing at the wedding the following evening. The sound can be used either softly as background music, or elevated in volume for dancing. Everyone present at the party loved the atmosphere they helped to create.
